Fast Forward to O C T O B E R | 2 0 1 1

Blogger,
How soon I forgot you were here.

Cruising around looking for shoes, I ended up here, once again, only to find I had linked to Audrey Rotermund's blog while studying in Venice this fall (2011).
I had gone there last week, urged on by her crosspost on FaceBook.

Huh? How did that/this happen?

Why wasn't I" thinking about traveling to Europe, traveling to take photographs....that was all
I was doing in 1966-68! those last 3-4 years of High School?
Why was I content hangin around Grosse Pointe?

....long nights in the basement darkroom.
Laura Nyro on a Canadian FM "underground" radio station, covering the international airwaves across the Detroit River from Windsor to me.

Developing negatives of downtown Detroit...at night, sneaking out when everyone was asleep.
Wish I still had those negatives.
Wish I still had those prints...
Gone, a flood in my new basement darkroom, newly married, newly ruined.

If I close my eyes, I can smell the old darkroom/ I can smell the chemicals,
I can smell the acetic acid bath.....I can see, even tho it's dark, as the red lamp makes it all ok.

Poly Contrast papers....ever use them?
Iwas never truly happy with them
I fell in love with Ilford's warm, textured papers, like fine watercolour paper.
They came from England.
